Every year in the OKC metro area, nearly 30,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are euthanized. This happens because there are not enough homes to place them all. It is estimated that ten puppies and kittens are born for every human born in this country. These numbers will never add up and unwanted pets will continue to be euthanized, unless people become responsible pet owners. In adddition, there are medical benefits for your spayed or neutered pet. Spaying prior to the first heat cycle, eliminates the risk of breast tumors, potentially fatal uterine infections, and unwanted litters. Neutering decreases the urge to roam and mark territory and eliminates or decreases the risk of testicular tumors and prostate problems. It is a statistical fact that spayed and neutered pets live longer, healthier lives than those pets who are not spayed or neutered.
